Between me and my better half we've owned a chimney for some time in which we can count on for worm fires during wintertime. But, in recent years it is falling apart. Why? A Seattle chimney sweep business claimed they discovered that the chimney's masonry has not been sealed and water is actually getting in the room. Are these claims correct? Has anyone heard of these people? Your guidance is much appreciated. The Mad Hatter Chimney Sweep 1000 4th Avenue, Seattle, WA 98104 - (206) 274-6409

Hi Omar,

It is very essential to install the VMware tools. This will allow the OS to run correctly within VMware. :)

While the Ubuntu is running, click on the "Virtual Machine" menu (from the "File", "Edit" etc. bar).

Then choose "Install VMware Tools", this will then mount (put in) a virtual CD with the vmware tools program.

You can then install it by extracting the compressed archive (like a .ZIP file) on the virtual CD to the Desktop.

Once it is on the desktop. Open Terminal from “Applications > Accessories > Terminal” and move to the new folder on the desktop by typing “cd Desktop/vmware-tools-distrib”

Then we need to execute the VMware tools install script, by typing “sudo ./vmware-install.pl” in terminal and follow the instructions.

And BOOM it should be installed. If this is too brief and unclear just let me know and I’ll do a full post about it.

:) happy nerding x

How did you get the VMware tools to install? Or is it not necessary? I'm a total n00b at this, so bear with me :)

Also, I'm running VMFusion 4 on a 2010 Macbook Air running Lion.

Hope that gives you enough info to sorta run with.
